Activities and Clubs

Auto Restoration Club allows students to learn how to restore old cars from the ground up including rust repair, panel forming, welding, and all mechanical aspects of an automobile.

Mount Anthony Chamber Singers is open to students by audition only providing a higher degree of musical challenge than what is currently available to students within the school day schedule. It also allows students who wish to be involved in music an opportunity when they can’t otherwise fit it into their class schedule. Members of Chamber Singers are passionate about singing and developing their musicianship skills. This mixed ensemble rehearses beginning in September and performs in all vocal music concerts throughout the school year. This ensemble performs throughout the community as well and many members travel for District, All state, New England and other festival competitions. The style of music ranges from early Madrigal to Pop.

This club offers students an opportunity to learn and play chess and other board games (both classic and modern) while building relationships with others. We pride ourselves on friendship, fair play, and good sportsmanship.

The Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program is a year-round program where cadets fly, learn to lead, hike, camp, get in shape, and push themselves to new limits.

This club provides students an opportunity to learn about Climate Change and work as a group to come up with solutions. Students will be involved in planning activities and initiatives and collaborating with others in our community who are working on this issue.

Each year, depending on the level of interested singers, Mount Anthony DaCapos is either a group of less experienced singers who are looking to develop their skills, or a group of highly experienced singers for which singing is their top priority and they are considering pursuing singing and/or music as a possible career path. The group will perform in all vocal music concerts throughout the year as well as in small community engagements. Students will also work on Solo repertoire for auditions at the Eastern and National levels as well as preparation for college auditions. The style of music is typically early Madrigal music through contemporary small ensemble choral repertoire.

Description: The MAU Drama Club is a very active group of talented and creative students. We produce at least 3 shows each year. This year, the club will produce a Fall Musical Review, a Winter Comedy and a Spring Musical. Past productions include Singing in the Rain, It’a a Wonderful Life, Cafe Murder, Mary Poppins, Les Miserables, Oliver, The Importance of Being Earnest, The Addans Family, Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummers Night Dream and many more!  All interested students are welcome and encouraged to audition for each production. In addition , club members are involved in all other aspects of theater including set construction, costumes, props, sound and lights, design, production etc.

Students and staff are welcome to come learn how to cast a fly rod, tie flies, and learn a bit about river & stream habitat. Any level of experience is welcome, and we are working on trips to visit The Orvis Rod Shop, The American Fly Fishing Museum and bringing in officers from the VT Dept. of Fish & Wildlife. The group meets Mondays 2:05-3:05, unless we're out on the water and it may go longer into the afternoon.

Hockey Club is a club to promote the sport of Ice Hockey. It provides students with the opportunity to promote physical fitness, physical agility, leadership and team play. Students will learn to skate on hockey skates, stick handling, passing, shooting and team play.

Interact is a Rotary-Sponsored service club that gives young people in high school an opportunity to participate in fun and meaningful service projects while developing leadership skills and meeting new friends. The basic principle of Rotary Interact is to help others.

Description: The MAU Jazz Ensemble explores jazz and other popular styles of music and prepares for school based and community performances. This allows students to explore a wider variety of musical genres and develop extended playing techniques on their instruments as well study improvisation.

The MAU Nation is for students in grades 9-12 regardless of involvement in sports or activities who would like to help increase student attendance and support at home functions as well as advertise for events, and will be under the advisory of Mark Upright. The objective of this club is to find ways to increase student attendance at home sporting events as well as plays, concerts, and performances in order to show support to participants. This club will take on the responsibility of advertising for every HOME sporting event, concert, play, etc by creating posters that will be hung around the school and fliers that will be distributed to students.This club will work in collaboration with Ashley Hoyt,( Activities Director) to incorporate ways to increase student involvement at events without creating a financial burden for our students. This is a year round club.

National Honor Society is a nation-wide organization which recognizes high school students grades 10-12 who show outstanding academic achievement. Students are selected for membership after a review by a faculty panel.

Sexuality and Gender Awareness Alliance (SAGAA) provides education and foster awareness about sexuality and gender for the MAUHS community. It acts as a safe space for LGBTQ+ students and allies.

The Student Sentare is the student-run government for MAUHS. Members participate in various community and school committees and boards, such as the school board and Community Task Force. In the past, the Student Senate has sponsored fundraisers, a Red Cross Blood Drive, education forums and speeches on current issues, mock state and local elections, and dances at MAUHS. The Senate administers funds for scholarships, community service, and charitable donations.

The IGNITE program's mission is to create a peer mentorship program that will provide freshmen with support during their transition to high school. This support will take the form of personal relationships with encouraging upperclassmen peers and an opportunity to engage in their school community.

 

Meeting time: A full block on the first Monday of every month in the library or office conference room

Wind & Percussion Ensemble is a select group of student musicians who study and perform more advanced music by recognized composers in a chamber music setting. Major composers like Mozart, Hadyn, Beethoven and so many more wrote music for wind instruments alongside their more well-known orchestral works (Symphonies, Concertos, Sonatas and Operas). This group meets Fridays afterschool from 2:05 - 3:30

The Patriot Ledger Yearbook Club is open to all Mt. Anthony students with an interest in preparing the current yearbook!  Club members will participate in all aspects of yearbook production including pho-tography, design, scheduling, marketing, organization, sales, distribution, problem solving, and much more.  Yearbook Club is a friendly and cooperative group with the goal of having fun and providing the best yearbook possible to our school community.  We encourage members to join and come when they can!
